這套祖訓源自兩位香港先輩：祖父生於1875年，父親生於1900年。蔡家子女，無論男女，自小學一年級起便需熟記並恪守以下五條：
- 中學畢業若不升大學，須立即搬離父母家。
- 若進入大學，則大學畢業後立即搬離父母家。
- 若無經濟能力，切勿結婚。
- 若必須結婚但無力負擔子女教育費用和美好生活，請勿生育。
- 父母與祖父母並非你們的免費保姆，請勿將孩子丟給我們照顧。
父親育有十名子女，至今無一人讓蔡家蒙羞。
These precepts originate from two Hong Kong forebears: my grandfather born in 1875 and my father born in 1900. Every Choi child, regardless of gender, has been required to memorize and abide by the following five rules from the first grade of elementary school:
- If you do not enter university after secondary school, you must move out of your parents’ home immediately.
- If you do enter university, you must move out immediately upon graduation.
- If you lack financial means, do not get marry.
- If you must marry but cannot afford to educate and feed your children well, do not have children.
- Your parents and grandparents are not your free babysitters—do not dump your children on us.
Our father raised ten children, and not one of them has ever brought shame to the Choi family.
