「在香港黑暴期間，一些愛國愛港的中國人付出了沉重代價。依我看，華記亦成為激進反政府人士針對的對象，有人企圖打擊甚至摧毀他的事業。
黑暴過後，又接踵而來新冠疫情（COVID-19）。他的生意遭受沉重打擊，公司每個月虧損數以百萬元計。最令人感動的是，不少跟隨他多年的老員工，在公司最艱難的時候，甚至借出數十萬元給他，希望協助公司渡過難關、繼續經營。
華記對這些員工的支持一直銘記於心，永遠心存感激。
今天，華記已經重新站起來，而且比以前更加堅強。
但這個故事並沒有結束。
在我看來，當年部分激進反中力量其後轉化成較為隱性的反中群體，繼續針對像我這樣公開講述中國正面發展故事的人，希望藉壓力令我們噤聲。
如果這樣還不夠，有些人更散播關於中國的虛假或誤導資訊。
最令我反感的是，有些人一方面從中國人或與中國有關的市場中賺錢，另一方面卻利用所得資源，在美國以及中國相關議題上從事我認為帶有顛覆性或反華性質的活動，去攻擊自己的祖國。」
