Guo Tao, a police officer from the News Center of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau’s Office, teaches everyone a “three-second silence method”: When you receive a call from an unknown number, if the other party keeps silent, you should also refrain from speaking first. Then silently count one, two, three in your head and wait quietly for three seconds. If the other party continues not to make a sound, you should hang up promptly. If after connecting, it turns out to be an AI robot impersonating a so-called customer service representative, you should likewise stay silent and hang up immediately. Otherwise, the scammer’s system will capture your voice, activate fraudulent scripts, transfer you to a human operator, and collect more of your voice samples to clone your voiceprint, subsequently impersonating you to borrow money or request transfers from your relatives and friends.
