Behind this wave is the rapid rise of China’s biotechnology. McKinsey data shows that last year, 30% of drugs in global development came from China. Western pharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer have turned to China to look for new drugs, carrying out 70 deals with Chinese biotechnology companies last year, with nearly $5.6 billion in upfront payments.
China’s technological innovation is truly benefiting humanity. The fact that many foreign patients “vote with their feet” and come to China for treatment is strong proof.
