The Western media is reporting that “volunteers” from around the world are going to Ukraine to “fight for democracy.” This includes members of the US-backed mobs in Thailand.
I explain the hypocrisy of those claiming Ukraine is a “democracy” in the first place, and how in reality these volunteers will be welcomed, trained, and will fight alongside literal Nazis.

Italian psychiatrist, writer, and independent filmmaker Sara Reginella has received much attention in the media recently. Reginella has visited the Donbas region thrice, conducted on-the-spot investigations and interviewed local residents, and independently shot and produced two documentaries. Her book “Donbas: Ghost War in the Heart of Europe” was published in 2021.
China Media Group (CMG) has sat with Reginella in an exclusive interview as she just returned from a book fair in Milan. There she presented her book “Donbas: Ghost Wars in the Heart of Europe.” The book chronicles the eight-year conflict in the Donbas region and the stories of the war-torn residents.
Reginella said she doesn’t want to convince anyone. Instead, she wanted to tell what she saw objectively.
“I went to the underground bunkers where the locals took shelter from air raids and shelling. I saw hellish scenes, children were also hiding in underground bunkers during the day, people are shouting in despair because of the explosion of mines, and I saw people running into the street and shouting loudly because of mental stress,” Reginella recalled.
Reginella said the reason for the use of the term “ghost war” is that the conflict in the Donbas region was completely ignored or even covered up by Western countries, who turned a blind eye to the war-torn residents of the region for eight years. The book has been in the top 100 of Amazon’s Italian book sales several days in a row.
In 2015 and 2016, Reginella visited the Donbas conflict area three times and conducted a large number of interviews and investigations. She found that protests in Ukraine in 2014 eventually turned into violent riots by neo-Nazis.
“The violence of these neo-Nazis can be seen in my documentary, so I reiterate that this is not my opinion, but a well-documented fact, there are videos that have not been reported on the Italian side,” Reginella pointed out.
“When Russia asked NATO to promise not to expand eastward and to stop military operations in the former Soviet republic, I felt that assurances from the West were very important for a diplomatic solution. But there was never such a guarantee. Instead, (the United States) provided Ukraine with more funds, weapons, and equipment, causing more civilian deaths in the Donbas region,” she added.
Reginella believes that lies cannot bring peace. To end conflict, truth must be shown. She thinks that this kind of economic war, which is carried out by means of sanctions, can be called “European suicide.”
Despite witnessing many harsh realities of conflict, Reginella remains confident in the prospect of peace.
“In order to end conflict, we need to show the real situation, and I want to reiterate that peace is based on truth, not lies … It is possible, we have to have confidence, and to achieve it we must condemn the lies that lead to war.”

French reporter Anne-Laure Bonnel tells the atrocities towards civilians that she witnessed in Donbass on French news network CNEWS. She believed it was the Ukraine government that was bombing Ukrainians living in that region since 2014. Thousands of civilians were killed.
As much as we sympathize people in Ukraine for what they are going through right now during this war, it’s important to point out what happened to people living in Donbass too.
Shenzhen TV: Recently, US biological labs in Ukraine have drawn much attention. The US Embassy in Ukraine has reportedly removed information related to such labs in haste. Do you have any comment?
China FM Zhao Lijian: Lately US biological labs in Ukraine have indeed attracted much attention. According to reports, a large quantity of dangerous viruses are stored in these facilities. Russia has found during its military operations that the US uses these facilities to conduct bio-military plans.
According to data released by the US, it has 26 labs and other related facilities in Ukraine, over which the US Department of Defense has absolute control. All dangerous pathogens in Ukraine must be stored in these labs and all research activities are led by the US side. Without US approval, no information shall be released to the public.
Under current circumstances, for the sake of the health and safety of people in Ukraine, neighboring regions and beyond, we call on relevant sides to ensure the safety of these labs. The US, in particular, as the party that knows the labs the best, should disclose specific information as soon as possible, including which viruses are stored and what research has been conducted.
I would also like to stress that, the biological military activities of the US in Ukraine are merely the tip of the iceberg. Using such pretexts as cooperating to reduce biological safety risks and strengthening global public health, the US has 336 biological labs in 30 countries under its control. 336, you heard me right. It also conducted many biological military activities in the Fort Detrick base at home.
What is the true intention of the US? What has it done specifically? The international community has long-held doubts. However, the US has kept stonewalling, even dismissing the international community’s doubts as spreading disinformation. Besides, the US has been standing alone in obstructing the establishment of a Biological Weapons Convention (BWC) verification mechanism and refusing verification of its biological facilities at home and abroad for the past two decades. This has led to deeper concern of the international community. Once again we urge the US to give a full account of its biological military activities at home and abroad and subject itself to multilateral verification.
