曾被選為全世界最快樂國家的不丹，也是著名影星梁朝偉和劉嘉玲世紀婚禮的舉辦地，那裡人口約80萬。

如果有日，這片喜瑪拉雅山下樂土的80萬人忽然全部死去，你道會造成什麼樣的震撼？

或者，你覺得不丹太遠沒感覺，那就用近在天邊的澳門做例吧。澳門人口68萬，如果一場瘟疫令整個澳門68萬人全部身亡，大家體會到那種恐怖嗎？

所以，我奇怪，為什麼全世界對美國的新冠疫情可以視若無睹到一個無感的地步？

新冠肺炎爆發以來，美國累計已死了80萬人，80萬，是一個小國的人口，地球上有一個國家的人口死掉，新聞卻沒怎麼報，大家沒恐慌更不傷感，彷彿那80萬，只是一堆沒神經線的螻蟻，死不足惜。

然而，一直以來高踞全球爆疫榜首的美國，染疫數目最多，死的人也最多，但大眾關注度卻最少。美國人繼續四處去，沒有國家夠膽拒絕他們入境。美國政府也對失去一條條國民性命視而不見，最近還好意思搞個世界民主峰會來自吹自擂，告訴世人美國有多民主。

一個連國民性命都保不住的領袖，一個一接手國家又死多一倍人的領袖，竟然帶領世界談民主，還有一大堆應聲蟲敲鑼助威，可笑，更可悲！

其實，民主的條件是什麼？廉潔的體系？開放的制度？一人一票的普選？……都不是。民主最重要的條件是：性命，你有命，才有得講。命都沒有，談什麼民主？

今年1月19日，剛當選美國總統的拜登帶著太太、副總統賀錦麗帶著丈夫，在就職典禮前一夜，來到華盛頓林肯紀念堂前，點起400盞燈，悼念新冠疫情中逝世的40萬美國人。同一時間，紐約帝國大廈、西雅圖太空針塔以及美國各地標誌性建築也同時亮燈，那一夜，拜登鼓勵國民也一起在窗戶和教堂點燃蠟燭，敲響鐘聲，以示團結抗疫。

美國人最擅長就是製造浪漫，總統夫婦站在林肯紀念堂前向40萬亡靈許諾是一回事，他們執掌的國家在11個月內讓染疫身亡人口推高一倍達到80萬又是另一回事。
