Dear overseas Chinese:
各位亲爱的侨胞：

Time flies, time flies. Since serving as China’s ambassador to the United States in April 2013, I have been working in the United States for more than eight years in a blink of an eye. I will leave my post and return to China in the near future. This was the longest term in my diplomatic career abroad. It allowed me to experience many historical events, met many warm and friendly friends, and left me with many unforgettable memories for life.
时光荏苒，岁月如梭。自2013年4月担任中国驻美大使，转眼我在美国工作已八年有余，将于近日离任回国。这是我外交生涯中最长的一次驻外任期，让我经历了很多具有历史意义的事件，结识了很多热情友好的朋友，也给我留下了很多终身难忘的记忆。

On the occasion of parting, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the majority of overseas Chinese in the United States for their care and support for my work! I clearly remember that shortly after I took office in April 2013, dozens of overseas Chinese associations held a grand welcome banquet for me, which was the first large-scale event I participated in after arriving in Washington. I clearly remember that during the holidays, I sat around for a long conversation with the leaders of overseas Chinese, listened to your in-depth observations of the United States, and made suggestions for the development of Sino-US relations. I clearly remember that every time a Chinese leader visited the United States, he was greeted by overseas Chinese wherever he went. The national flags of China and the United States were waving in the wind, and cheers were endless. I clearly remember that every time the ancestral (home) country was hit by disasters or distress, the overseas Chinese would not hesitate to turn back and give generously. I especially remember clearly that over the years, the overseas Chinese have lived abroad, have a passion for Sangzi, and have made unremitting efforts to promote mutually beneficial cooperation and people-to-people bonds between China and the United States, to promote the reunification of the motherland, and to defend national dignity.
在临别之际，我要特别向广大在美华侨华人对我工作的关心和支持表示衷心感谢！我清晰地记得，2013年4月我履新后不久，数十家侨社为我共同举办了盛大的欢迎宴会，是我抵达华盛顿后参加的首场大型活动。我清晰地记得，逢年过节，我与侨领们围坐长谈，聆听你们分享对美国的深入观察，为发展中美关系献计献策。我清晰地记得，每次中国领导人访美之际，所到之处受到侨胞们夹道欢迎，中美两国国旗迎风招展，欢呼声不绝于耳。我清晰地记得，每逢祖（籍）国遭受灾害、危难当头，侨胞们义无反顾，慷慨捐助。我尤其清晰地记得，多少年来，侨胞们身居海外，情系桑梓，为促进中美互利合作和民心相通不懈努力，为促进祖国统一、捍卫民族尊严坚定发声。

In a few days, we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. Looking back at history, all the Chinese people are very excited for the great motherland’s historic achievements from standing up, getting rich, and getting stronger. Generations of overseas Chinese have always adhered to the patriotic tradition and have never been absent in every period of China’s revolution, construction, and reform. They have made important contributions to the independence and liberation of the Chinese nation and the prosperity and development of China. Looking to the future, China has embarked on a new journey of building a modern socialist country in an all-round way. This has provided a broader and better prospect for the development of the vast number of overseas Chinese. At the same time, it also requires the majority of overseas Chinese to exert their wisdom and contribute their strength to everyone’s Work hard to gather a majestic force and make a unique contribution to the realization of the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
