The three men – Nie Haisheng, Liu Boming and Tang Hongbo – are expected to spend three months living and working aboard the Tianhe module some 380km (236 miles) above the Earth. It will be China’s longest crewed space mission to date and the first in nearly five years. Nie Haisheng is 57 years old, but he is more like a man in his early forties or late thirties. It might be his last trip to space, but many young astronauts are catching up and are ready for the following ten-plus trips to the Tiangong Space Station, which is scheduled to operate in 2022. During space station construction and development, young people will have the opportunity to realize the dream of travelling in space and exploring the mysteries of the universe.
